Violators will face fines. Light vehicle drivers exceeding the speed limit will be fined INR 2,000. Heavy vehicle drivers will face a fine of INR 4,000.New speed limits will be enforced on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and Yamuna Expressway from December 15, 2024, to February 15, 2025, due to winter fog. Authorities aim to reduce accidents caused by reduced visibility and slippery roads. Fines will be imposed on violators, and additional safety measures, including patrols and support for drivers, will be implemented.
The new speed limits are part of an annual safety plan. These measures will be in effect for two months during the peak fog season. DCP Traffic Yamuna Prasad announced the changes.
On the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, the maximum speed for light vehicles will be reduced from 100 kmph to 75 kmph. The speed limit for heavy vehicles will be reduced from 60 kmph to 50 kmph.
On the Yamuna Expressway, light vehicles will have a reduced speed limit of 75 kmph, down from 100 kmph. The speed limit for heavy vehicles will decrease from 80 kmph to 60 kmph.
New speed limit signs and fog lights will be installed along both expressways. The Noida Authority and traffic police will conduct regular patrols and closely monitor traffic to ensure compliance.
