Jaguar has unveiled its Type 00 concept car, showcasing its future design direction and electric vehicle strategy at Miami Art Week. This vision, embodying "Exuberant Modernism," previews Jaguar's return to its "Copy Nothing" ethos under the leadership of Adrian Mardell and Rawdon Glover.

The Type 00, named to signify its zero emissions and position as the first in a new lineage, features a striking design enabled by Jaguar's new JEA architecture. This includes a long bonnet, sweeping roofline, and boat-tail. The company also announced plans for a new four-door GT production model, targeting a late 2025 release with a range of up to 770km (478 miles) WLTP. Jaguar is also opening exclusive brand stores, starting with one in Paris.

Type 00 emphasizes Jaguar’s move toward an all-electric future with a luxurious and exclusive line of vehicles. This represents a complete reimagining of the brand, extending beyond just the cars themselves. The unveiling in Miami coincides with the city’s prominence during Art Week.

Exuberant Modernism

The Type 00 concept car exemplifies Jaguar's new creative philosophy, termed "Exuberant Modernism." The ‘Type’ prefix connects to classic models like the E‑type. The double zero signifies zero tailpipe emissions and its status as the first of a new generation. The car’s design includes 23‑inch alloy wheels, a fastback profile, and sophisticated surfaces. This design was made possible by Jaguar's new electric architecture, JEA.

It is our first physical manifestation and the foundation stone for a new family of Jaguars that will look unlike anything you’ve ever seen. A vision which strives for the highest level of artistic endeavour.”

New design philosophy

Jaguar's new design philosophy rests on three pillars: exuberance (vibrant and fearless), modernism (future-focused and inspired), and compelling (holistic and extraordinary). This philosophy is reflected in the brand’s visual identity and its approach to customer relations. It guides both the vehicles created and the experiences curated, the company said in a media release.

Type 00 represents the beginning of a new era for Jaguar, emphasizing the brand's core values. The development started with a clean slate approach to both design and engineering. JEA, Jaguar’s new architecture, was built specifically for this new direction. This technology will provide a compelling driving experience, responsive handling, and exceptional comfort. The combination of electric technology and innovative design aims to distinguish future Jaguars in the growing electric vehicle market.

The first production model based on this new generation will be a four-door GT, built in the UK. Its unveiling is slated for late 2025. Projected performance includes a range of up to 770km (478 miles) WLTP or 430 miles (692km) EPA, and the ability to add 321km (200 miles) of range in 15 minutes of rapid charging.

Jaguar intends to create exclusive brand stores worldwide to offer customers an immersive brand experience. These locations will reflect local culture, complemented by a network of luxury retailers. The first store will open in Paris's luxury fashion district.

Exterior

The Type 00's exterior features a new front end design with flush surfaces and the updated Jaguar logo. A distinct light signature emphasizes width. Bold proportions dominate the side profile, with laser-etched Jaguar 'leapers' on brass ingots that deploy to reveal rear-facing cameras. Charging ports and front air intakes are concealed until needed. The rear includes a glassless tailgate, panoramic roof, and horizontal “Strikethrough” graphics concealing full-width taillights.

Constantino Segui Gilabert, Chief Exterior Designer, Jaguar, said, "Jaguar is no place for ordinary. When you see a new Jaguar for the first time, it must have a sense of awe, of never having been seen before. Type 00 commands attention, like all the best Jaguars of the past. It has a dramatic presence, channelling a unique spirit of British creativity and originality. It celebrates art and embodies the essence of Exuberant Modernism."

Two versions of the Type 00 were presented, mirroring the launch of the E-type with two models in 1961. One, in Satin Rhodon Rose, nicknamed "Miami Pink," is inspired by the aging process of brass. The other, in Inception Silver Blue, or "London Blue," draws inspiration from the Opalescent Silver Blue of the 1960s and represents Jaguar's British heritage.

The seats, sound bar, and flooring are covered in a tactile wool blend inspired by handwoven yarns.

We have three key materials – brass, travertine stone and textiles – and the way we use these materials represents bold pieces of art and creates a unique atmosphere."

Travertine stone forms the base for the seats and central spine, influencing the interior color palette. Woven textiles enhance the craftsmanship. The seats, sound bar, and flooring are covered in a tactile wool blend inspired by handwoven yarns.
