All the new stores have service capacity too, said Aggarwal earlier this week.Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal on Wednesday announced that the company's latest products, the Ola Gig and S1 Z, will be the first to feature the homegrown 4680 Bharat cell technology.
In a post on X, Aggarwal said that these new offerings are scheduled for launch in April 2025.
This comes after Ola Electric launched the Gig and S1 Z range of scooters last month. The new range of scooters comprises Ola Gig, Ola Gig+, Ola S1 Z, and Ola S1 Z+ available at an introductory pricing of Rs 39,999 (ex-showroom), Rs 49,999 (ex-showroom), Rs 59,999 (ex-showroom), and Rs 64,999 (ex-showroom), respectively.
"The @OlaElectric Gig and S1 Z will be the first products with our 4680 Bharat cell!! Coming April 2025," Aggarwal said.
In July, the EV manufacturer has developed a cutting-edge lithium cell battery named "Bharat cell", which Aggarwal denoted to be a 'game changer' in Indian market. India currently does not produce any batteries and relies heavily on imports. Batteries constitute a substantial portion of the manufacturing cost of an electric vehicle.
Bharat Cell has also received a certification of Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), a mandatory requirement before commercial production starts at its Ola Gigafactory.
Shares of Ola Electric Mobility rallied 16% in just two sessions after the EV company on Monday announced its major expansion plans of its company-owned store network to 4,000 by December 20, 2024. With the current 800-store network, the company has set an ambitious target of opening 3,200 stores in less than three weeks.
This translates into 178 stores per day.
"With over 3,200 new stores set to open, Ola Electric will operate India's largest EV distribution network, covering all the country's pin codes. It is one of the world's most significant expansions of the EV footprint, bolstering access, growth and adoption in the country. All the newly launched stores will be co-located with service facilities, strengthening the company's service network all across the country," the company had said in an exchange filing.
All the new stores have service capacity too, said Aggarwal earlier this week.
