The Kia Syros all set to make its debut in India on December 19, expanding Kia's range of compact SUVs. The Syros, codenamed AY, will offer a more premium experience compared to the Sonet, even though both vehicles share a similar sub-4-meter size. Pricing is expected to be revealed in January at the Bharat Mobility Expo, with deliveries anticipated to begin later that month. The Syros is expected to get an EV variant in the future.

Kia Syros: Exterior Design

According to the teaser images, the Kia Syros stands out with its boxy, tallboy design, which aims to maximize interior space. The front of the car features a clamshell bonnet with a sleek 2D Kia logo, along with vertically stacked LED headlights and Daytime Running Lamps (DRLs). The vehicle also boasts extensive black cladding around the wheel arches and bumpers, giving it a rugged, SUV-like appearance. The alloy wheels are expected to be as large as 17 inches on higher variants.

Kia Syros: Interior and features

Kia has revealed that the Syros will offer rear seat space that will exceed that of both the Sonet and the larger sibling Seltos. The top variants of the Syros are expected to come with a 10.25-inch infotainment display, alongside a fully digital instrument cluster. Recent teasers have also highlighted a new two-spoke steering wheel, equipped with controls for the infotainment system and driving modes such as Mud, Snow/Wet, and Sand. Other expected features include front parking sensors, a wireless charging pad, USB-C ports, a panoramic sunroof, and an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite.

Powertrain and performance

Under the hood, the Kia Syros is expected to offer two engine options. The first is a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 120HP and 172Nm of torque, while the second is a 1.5-liter diesel engine with 116HP and 250Nm of torque. Both engines will be paired with manual and automatic transmission options. Notably, the naturally aspirated 1.2-litre petrol engine available in the entry-level Sonet variants might not be offered in the Syros.
