The company is currently eyeing the mid-premium mass market segment (INR 2 lakh to INR 3 lakh) with 250-300 cc capacity

Raptee.HV, a Chennai-based electric motorcycle startup, has launched its first electric motorcycle, T 30 that is compatible with car charging standards at INR 2.39 lakh, manufactured at its Madras plant. The company, through its electric motorcycle targets to provide longevity, performance, and the ability to power through a CCS2 (combined charging system) charger, Dinesh Arjun, Co-Founder and CEO, Raptee.HV told ETAuto.

The company is currently eyeing the mid-premium mass market segment (INR 2 lakh to INR 3 lakh) with 250-300 cc capacity, added Arjun.

“We're looking at largely two demographics; first is anybody who's currently looking at buying a 200 cc motorcycle, second is for those who want to upgrade from their current 100 cc vehicles into their next vehicle (250-300cc)," he said.

Explaining the rationale for using a CCS2 charger, the company said this is a practical alternative that will aid transit from ICE (internal combustion engine) to electric motorcycles.

It will help provide high voltage and longevity to the vehicle. “We believe that five years down the line, everybody who is building an electric motorcycle will have to follow our path of moving into high voltage,” added Arjun.

The company is planning to begin delivery of Raptee.HV T 30 from January with commencement from Chennai and Bengaluru and aims to sell 8,000 units by CY 2025, which will translate into a revenue of approximately INR 200 crore revenue. “We're looking at only 8,000 units in the first year because we want to ensure that all of our customers are given the quality, quality customer experience that we want to give them,” added Arjun.

The company has also started working on its next product that is expected to be launched in Q1 CY26 and followed by another product in Q4CY26. “We don't intend to be a single product company for a very long period of time. We ideally want to come out into the market with a new product every year,” added Arjun.

The fundraising is expected to close by the end of the CY2024.

“We will slowly scale up manufacturing and outlets as well so that our customers are able to get that experience that they want,” added Arjun.
