Over 20 vehicles were fined for overcharging passengers, carrying more passengers than permitted, violating permit conditions, and other deficiencies.
In a concerted effort to ensure road safety and passenger convenience, Indore RTO officials on Saturday penalised more than 20 private buses for violating the set rules and recovered total penalties of INR 48,000 from them.

"Following instructions of collector Asheesh Singh to conduct continuous checks on public transport vehicles and other motor vehicles, our teams are checking vehicle fitness, permits, insurance, PUC certificates, tax certificates, and other essential documents," RTO Pradeep Kumar Sharma said, adding that special attention is being paid to buses, with our teams cracking down on overloading and overcharging.

"Passengers are also being encouraged to install High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) on their vehicles. Additionally, vehicle speed, speed governors, and other documents are being thoroughly checked," he said.

Today, buses plying on the Indore-Pithampur, Indore-Manpur, and Indore-Indorama routes were subjected to rigorous inspections. Over 20 vehicles were fined for overcharging passengers, carrying more passengers than permitted, violating permit conditions, and other deficiencies.

Notably, a school mini-bus was found operating without a fitness certificate and was penalised accordingly. The total fine collected during these inspections amounted to approximately INR 48,000.
