Goa's Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) at Marcaim Industrial Estate, originally set to open in Sep, is now slated for completion by Nov. Transport officials confirmed that the installation is nearly complete, and electrical connections are finalised.

"We expect to finish all installations by Oct 30," a Transport Official told TOI. "Some machinery is still on the way, and we also need to obtain final approval from the Pollution Control Board. After this, we will test the machinery to ensure the system operates effectively. Initial scrapping of a few vehicles will be done before we launch full operations," he said.

The RVSF is part of the Motor Vehicles (Vehicle Scrapping Facility) Rules, 2021, aimed at scientifically scrapping old vehicles. Currently, Goa has around 1.9 lakh vehicles over 15 years old.
